In the decades since the first Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was held in Southern California in 1999, its cultural footprint has become much more comprehensive than music. This year's event, which began over the weekend, reflected that evolution. It was a concert for a few days, but also a “White Lotus” reunion, political gatherings, and as in the past few years it was a fashion sight.
The members of Jenny and Lisa's set, Blackpink, became solo acts, and Lady Gaga was bustling about the singer's outfits almost as much as the musical performance. Lisa's set also talked about the crowd after some of her “White Lotus” season 3 co-stars, including Patrick Schwarzenegger and Tame Taptimson, were discovered by audiences. Other celebrities who mixed in with the masses heading for the festival included Timothy Chalamett and Kylie Jenner, and Justin and Haley Bieber.
While certain well-known Coachella participants tried their best to blend in, wearing Anodyne T-shirts and truck driver hats, there were many things that the outfit stood out. I came across it mostly as intentional, but in certain cases it wasn't. For example, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont took the stage to showcase singer Clayro in a typical ensemble of blazers and button-down shirts. For him, the appearance was atypical for the festival, but like everyone else on this list, it's easy to forget.
Lady Gaga: Most Presto Changes!
The singer's Coachella set had as many costumes as the songs. Though not as over the top as her theatrical red outfit, including a huge skirt, the ensemble, which incorporates metal crutches and armor, made by Manuel Albalin, slammed the chords along with many viewers worn in the video for her song “Paparazzi.”
Lisa: Most electric!
The high energy that co-stars and fans brought to the crowd during the singer's performance coincided on stage in a sparkling costume with a butterfly-like bodice designed by Asher Levine.
Jenny: Most Dudette Ranch!
The Cowgirl met the Cyborg with accessories the singer and rapper wore as part of a crimson ensemble, including an animal-printed jacket, crop top and triple belt hot pants.
Addison Ray: Most Dairy Queen!
In a white meadow dress with blonde wavy hair style, the singer reminiscent of attractive milk while performing in Arca. On stage, Mr. Ray used his clothes to share the release date of his new album.
Charli XCX, Benito Skinner, Julia Fox: Most Odd Throuple!
Diligently speaking, there were not many lines between the ensembles that singers, comedians and actresses wore in one of Coachella's many sponsored attractions. Aside from Peekaboo's waistline, that is.
ll cool J: The most buttery yellow!
The rapper was one of the few guests who shared the stage with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the festival. What makes his appearance even more remarkable was his choice to take full dose of a palette with some people called the colour of the season.
Tyra: The Caribbean's most pirates!
This was the first time the singer had performed this year at Coachella. For important occasions, she combined elements such as crystal mesh, brocade, fringe, and battered fishnets to assemble outfits that could double as a Disney movie costume.
Noah Cyrus: Most Victorian Valley girls!
The high collar and ruffles were one of the details that gave the singer's white dress a pasted feel. To make it more instant was the almost nude effect created by its lacy fabric.
Bernie Sanders: Most Bernie!
While the Senator's appearance at Coachella may have been a surprise to many, there could be a Navy blazer ensemble and a blue-collared shirt that is normally registered as business.
Belinda Carlyle: Most vacation!
The Go-Go singer performed in a floral Lou Super Beskirt with a sparkly top and a swish floral roux super beskirt that seemed like the exact type of cheerful, restful outfit that crams into the trip.
Shaboozey: Most red, white, boozey!
The American West has influenced the sound and appearance of the country singer wearing Etro suits embroidered with Coachella Blended Reds, Whites and Blues.
