What kind of actors are the main candidates?
Look out for “Maybe Happy Ending,” “Dead Outlaw,” “Buena Vista Social Club,” “Purpose,” “John Proctor Is the Villain,” and “Oh, Mary!” In a new play category. (There are at least five nominations for each of these categories.)
The musical has plenty of strong candidates for the best actress, but the frontrunners are like Odra Drama Donald, who is already a six-time Tony winner for “Gypsy,” and Nicole Scherzinger, a former member of “Sunset Boulevard.” The best actor race in the musical is more open, but it could feature Darren Chris from “Maybe Happy Ending,” Andrew Durand from “Dead Outlaw,” Tom Francis from “Sunset Boulevard,” Jeremy Jordan from “Just Just In Time,” and “Floyd Collins.”
What about all these celebrities?
Some of them have good shots to pick up nominations, such as “Durian Gray Photo” and “John Proctor is the Villain” Sadicinek Sadicine. It's far more inappropriate for some others, including Denzel Washington (“Othello”), George Clooney (“Goodnight, Good Luck”), Robert Downey Jr. (“McNeill”), Mia Farrow (“Roommate”), Jim Parsons (“Our Town”), and Nick Jonas (“The Last Five Years”).
Is there anything you know for sure?
Yeah! Several non-competitive awards have already been announced. Actor Harvey Fearstein, four-time Tony winner (for playing “Torch Song Trilogy” and “Hairspray”, writing “Torch Song Trilogy” and writing “Lacage Outs Falls” book) will win the annual award for Lifetime Achievement. Actress Celia Keenan Bolger is Tony's winner of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and is receiving the annual Isabel Stevenson Award, recognizing her volunteer work. And Tony's honor for excellence in theatre this year is given to the PBS arts program “Amazing Performance.” Michael Price is former executive director of Good Speed Musical in Connecticut. New 42 runs the rehearsal studio and Children's Theatre on 42nd Street. and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
Who will decide on the nomination?
There is a nomination committee consisting of people who have considerable knowledge of theatre but have no effort or financial interest in any of the season's shows. The committee began with 65 members, but 54 people participated in the selection of candidates due to rejection.
