In January, the New York commercial theater recovers from the holiday vendor and take a break from the opening.
This is another story of an experimental performance scene that surprises such things under the radar, prototypes, and indexes. It's time for people like Peter Mills Wises.
“In January, the incredible madness that everyone is always doing everything, and everyone's trousers,” said 36 years old. “I'm happy to be able to support in the as much as possible.”
Wises wear many hats. The most prominent, “Open Mic Night” like last year, such as “I was a party at Soho Rep (2021)” as a creator with his regular co -worker, Julia Majiee. A dark and interesting show show like you were having a party.
In addition, he and Ann Marie Dow co -produced Brucklin Avan Hub the Brick Theater and the art directors of Brick -O in their annex. Wises living in the Brooklyn Bushwick area exchanged projects as actors and sound designers. “I like being all merchants,” he said.
Wises kept his cultural meal diary in mid -January, when he reached the top of “Sawho's representative is not a building.” There was a building with a 12 -hour marathon wake, paying respect to the Walker Space, the former house of Tribecca, with a building in charge of Soho. These are excerpts from telephone and e -mail interviews.
Monday: Out, load
Since they were moving from their space, I provided 38 chairs from Life World because the Saw -Ho did not have a chair saying, “The Saw -Ho is not a building.” While looking for another space). They are the original folding chairs of the Hysteric theater.
I jumped out of the truck, so I was able to go to the first day of the rehearsal to read the REID TANG drama “Future Wife” directed by Nazareth Hassan on Ars Nova.
Later, I rushed to the simultaneous load on Ella Lee Davidson's show “Sapphire”, brick “sapphire”, “Cool Zone: Lost Episode”.
Tuesday: Acquire inventory and make it
I went back and forth between bricks and assistance in the morning and met Ann Marie De. Since we are provisional, we are mainly operating the legacy programming of Teresa Booho High Star (former Brick Art Director). I helped clarify the curator's modality for a new work, an open access program in April.
Later, I spent about 3 hours for my compliment for the Walker space on Saturday. I also made chicken. I like cooking, that's one of the ways I relax.
Wednesday: Bizarre Zone
I met Julia at AUX at 10 am when I read this ongoing. Because it is adaptable, it is a strange zone for us. We are now interested in the opposition of people expecting us.
Then I HUST to Ars Nova, rehearsed for 2 hours, and returned to AUX. After the thrilling game of the administrator, I went to the Sapphire opening night, part of the index. The play was really interesting and provocative in many ways. The audience really ate it.
Thursday: Millennial roast
I slept and experienced a day rehearsal for reading. It was the main staging of the small things that happened in reading when you stand up, when you are sitting.
That night, I went to Matthew Antoshi and Megan Robicho's “Mu!” Surprisingly, I've never been to that space, and it's a very cool place. It was one of the ways I really loved, one of the shows that were mixed CHAOS in total. Megan was doing some Haranju about how to smoke the millennial generation, so I roasted in the middle of the show. When I was asked to participate, I participated every time, so I raised my hand. I think she was a zoomer, so there was a bone picked by my generation. I think it's cold.
Returning home, I ate half of the sleeves of the club cracker, failed to play a video game, and slept.
Friday: Anti -fascist puppet theater drag EXTRAVAGANZA
Reading on ARS Nova worked well. There was no disaster, and I thought the play was really cool. It's always a kind of experience for me, as I haven't played a ton for others. In the evening, I went to see the “cool zone” on AUX. It was really fun and sold out.
Saturday: 11 Eulogies
On Saturday, it was insane, and from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, “Saw -Ho is not a building.” Erictin asked for 11 compliments and read about 100 people with an atmosphere. Around 7 pm, Carmelita TROPICANA and I started hosting. We basically exchanged four text messages about it as a plan. She wanted to do Kelia's (sad) ceremony, but we wanted to do something like that, not just rituals, so we prepared one of her pants and torn. 。 I was enthusiastic about my ripping, and she got angry with me like “Peter, it's cold outside!” I found a lot of binder clips and put her pants again. The writer's director Labo's box office manager and co -chairman Williambark gave a speech that has lowered the house for everything he has been in a comedy Palance for many years. Kaye Hurley (Marketing and Media Manager of SOHO REP) and I defeated all the posters in the lobby when people left.
Sunday: blurred
I was loaded with “sapphire” the night before, but I went to the brick later than I had. We caught and blessed the “COOL ZONE” team at the nearby Poetica Coffee. They really killed it, and I was happy about it. I go home and it's blurred for me. Oh, I ate pasta and watch some videos -I consume stable meals of YouTube video with various topics -and tried some management work. Maybe I have succeeded or failed, I don't know.
