Hollywood crimes have been making headlines lately, but they haven't been making a dent in the box office. While Sean 'Diddy' Combs and his associates have been in the spotlight, a lesser-known but equally disturbing case has been part of the public eye in recent years.
Two summers ago, after a seven-month investigation, Hollywood producer David Pearce was charged with the murders of two women: model Christy Giles and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola. It was done. The women's bodies were discovered in November 2021 at two separate hospitals. Pierce was initially arrested and charged with rape and sexual assault of four other women, and was later arrested on those charges.
Los Angeles Police Department investigators say Pierce, along with two associates, actor Brant Osborne and cinematographer Michael Ansbach, met the victims at a late-night warehouse party in Los Angeles, and then He claims he spent the night at Mr Pierce's apartment.

Toxicology reports showed both Giles and Cabrales-Arzola had elevated levels of fentanyl in their systems, in addition to cocaine and MDMA. In Giles' case, the date rape drug GHB was also found in her system, leading investigators to suspect that the women were drugged by Pierce before they were assaulted.
Additionally, Pierce was investigating a country that does not have an extradition treaty with the United States and was reportedly found with his passport and $30,000 in cash when authorities took him into custody. Pierce's attorney argued for his bail to be reduced from $3.4 million, but was denied on the grounds that he was a “threat to society” based on his alleged serial rapist pattern.
In addition to the murder charge filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Pierce also faces multiple felonies related to separate incidents involving seven women that allegedly occurred over a 10-year period from August 2020 to November 2021. are also facing. violent nature.
Pierce was charged with 11 crimes in total, and the state decided to combine the sexual assault and murder charges into one trial. The charges include supplying a controlled substance (fentanyl).
Powerful drugs were also at the center of a recent spate of Hollywood incidents, namely the death of Matthew Perry.
Pierce has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail awaiting a trial date. If convicted, he could face 128 years to life in prison.
Slow increase in criminal cases
Pierce was indicted a month after Giles and Cabrales-Arzola's deaths, but why are the other criminal charges, originally stemming from 2010, only coming to light now?

This can take a significant amount of time, depending on the number of crimes committed, the severity of each crime, and how much evidence there is to prosecute. This includes gathering information such as witness testimony, forensic analysis, surveillance footage, and expert analysis.

From there, the district attorney's office must review the case and decide whether to file charges based on what is presented. The charges filed against Pierce span more than a decade, so it takes time and thoroughness to compile solid evidence against each victim. Additionally, investigators must piece together patterns and connections between cases to determine whether to pursue charges together or separately.
It remains to be seen whether other charges will be filed against Pierce, or whether there may be other victims yet to be found.

Pierce's accusations are just one of many incidents that have made national news. His case may have been relegated to the background as famous Hollywood characters were thrust into the spotlight, but that doesn't make the loss of life any less tragic.
