The New York Yankees haven't played since Sunday, giving many fans in the area a chance to tune in to their crosstown rival.
And they received quite a treat.
The New York Mets had two miraculous wins this week. One was coming back after missing the postseason twice, and the other was Thursday, when Pete Alonso hit his first home run in history after the ninth inning when his team was trailing by a point. One of the greatest take-all games in MLB history.
Despite the Yankees and Mets being rivals, many Bronx Bombers fans briefly cheered for the Amazons this week.

Apparently, it bothered Yankees play-by-play announcer Michael Kay.
“Is fandom different now? Why support the Mets when you're a Yankee fan? Are you sane? Are you sane?” Kaye said on a Friday afternoon radio show. “It's like there's not enough good in the Bronx to root for. Come on, are you going to root for a Queens player? That doesn't make sense. This is a strange land.
“This is the era of participation trophies. 'Oh, it's good for the city if the Mets win.' Stop it!”
Kay then implored the Yankees fans who have supported the Mets to “grow.”

“Each and every one of you. Because being a fan means something. You can't root for both,” he added. “And those people aren't real Yankees fans. If they're just enjoying the Mets winning big games, they're not real fans.”
Kay also pointed to the fact that Mets fans rarely root for the Yankees. However, it should be noted that the 121-year-old Yankees are often considered the “big brother” since the Mets joined them as an expansion team in 1962.
