Aaron Rodgers admitted Sunday's game could be the last he plays in the NFL.
Rodgers was asked by reporters Wednesday if the New York Jets' final game of the season against the Miami Dolphins could be the last of his career.
“Yes, of course,” Rodgers replied.
Rodgers has not yet made a final decision, but has said he will make one by the start of free agency in March. Rodgers is under contract with the Jets for next season and will have a cap hit of $23 million. However, the Jets will hire a new head coach and general manager in the offseason after Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas, who brought Rodgers to New York, were fired midway through the season.

“I've just resigned myself to the reality of the situation,” Rodgers admitted about betting on Sunday's game. “I think change is going to happen here, and even if I'm (not) a part of that change, I just want everyone to know that I'm grateful for the time I spent here.”
He added that he expects the new coach and general manager to make quick decisions about their future with the team.
“I don't think we'll get that far,” Rogers said. “There's going to be a change of government here, at least with GM. Whatever they end up doing, I'm sure I'll get a call or have a conversation and go from there.”
Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon injury on the opening drive of the Jets' Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills last year, missing most of his first season with the Jets. This year, the Jets went 4-12 despite Rodgers having a completely healthy season.

“I'm disappointed in the performance myself and as a team, but I'm really grateful for the opportunity. If I come back feeling good and they want to run again with this… If you could, that would be great, but I'm not.'' I'm naive to the situation we're in. ”
This season has been physically taxing for Rodgers as well. After being sacked four times last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, he became the most sacked quarterback in NFL history. He has been sacked 568 times in 247 career games, three more than Tom Brady, who was sacked 565 times in his career. Russell Wilson is right there with 556 sacks.
The Jets quarterback has been sacked 37 times this season. He led the league in sacks twice in his career, both times with the Green Bay Packers.

Still, Rodgers considers his last two years in New York to be the best of his life.
“Honestly, I just want to say thank you. It's been the best two years of my life,” Rodgers said. “It's a perspective adjustment that happened at some point in the rehab process last year. Just getting excited, getting back into the game, getting to know the guys here, the great men and women who work here. It was disappointing on the field, obviously, but this game was about more than that.”
