I had no intention of writing this.
Two years ago, I said I would vote for a Democrat over Donald Trump in 2024. During the Republican primary, I wrote that I hoped Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would win. DeSantis has forever earned my respect by standing almost single-handedly against coronavirus lockdowns and vaccination mandates.
But Trump defeated DeSantis in the primary. Since then, I've been wondering what to do about this election.
In a way, my vote doesn't matter. I live in New York, where Kamala Harris is sure to win. But it should be at least a little important. Because an astonishing number of you are asking or urging me to reject my words in 2022 and support Trump.
There are only three days left in this most brutal of campaigns.
In a way, this choice is painful for me.

Donald Trump's comments are malicious. His unwillingness to commit to adhering to Tuesday's election results is dangerous. His friendly attitude towards dictators like Vladimir Putin disappoints me. And while I hate abortion, I don't support overturning Roe v. Wade.
still.
However, if we take a step back and consider the problem, we find that:
Democrats are against free speech. It forced mRNA vaccines on tens of millions of healthy adults. It opened America's southern border until public outcry forced it to close. Supports the decriminalization of drugs and the “locking up” of violent criminals. An organization that hosts gift after gift to interest groups. And it is willing to put the American economy at risk out of fear of climate change. With little notice, they imposed regulations that would make it almost impossible to buy gasoline-powered cars within 10 years.
What exactly does Kamala Harris represent?
That's not a rhetorical question. I really don't understand. But she happily accepts the support of Dick Cheney, the chickenhawk warmonger who for 50 years has championed everything wrong with American elites and American politics.
And even if Donald Trump's words become more vicious, he has a reason.
Last year, prosecutors in his old home state opened not one, but two trials against him, the first aimed at bankrupting him over loans he had fully repaid, and the second. It was intended to imprison him for the crime he won in 2016. Both won in Manhattan County, which voted against Trump by nearly 9-1 in 2020.
And although the media hardly sees fit to mention it, President Trump was nearly assassinated in July, and the situation remains uncertain.
Trump, on the other hand, did not stop campaigning.
He is working harder than ever to win votes in the face of an elite media that hates him more than ever. Although he has complained about election fraud in the past, he absolutely wants to win this election.
Yes, Donald Trump is angry. He has the right to do so.

We all have the right to do so. For too long, our self-proclaimed reformers in the media, public health, and academia have been telling us they know best. They have taught us that a man can become a woman with three clicks of his heels, that the United States is an evil nation founded primarily to protect slavery, and that illegal immigrants do not exist. Above all, they sought to shut down, cancel, and censor anyone who disagreed with them.
They went too far. And they proved in court that they would do anything to stop the man they hate.
So I'm going to vote for Donald Trump.
It's not an easy choice – not for me, anyway – but it's the only choice.
