“Mr. Cuomo provided some false statements to the subcommittee in what appears to be a consciously calculated effort to avoid responsibility,” Wenstrup said in a letter of introduction reviewed by the Times. “The Department of Justice should consider Mr. Cuomo's past misconduct when considering whether to prosecute him for the false statements made.”
Mr. Cuomo accused the subcommittee of misusing government resources to “investigate matters that are clearly outside its jurisdiction for the benefit of private litigation.”
