WNBA star Angel Reese didn't do that Tuesday.
The Chicago Sky rookie went out of his way to respond to a user with less than 300 followers on X after he mocked the user for missing a layup.
Reese brought up his 39% shooting percentage as something to be proud of amidst enthusiastic applause from fans.
“Did you know that I shot 39% for the year as a rookie, was still an All-Star, “missed a layup,” and was drafted 7th in my class? That was the worst outcome,” Reese wrote. “Or did you just hate Adam and sleep at home with the dog?”

Mr Rees' reaction sparked mixed reactions on social media. Some fans praised her for standing up for herself, taking pride in her performance and expressing confidence in her future.
“(Angel Reese) = Leader + Competitor + Great Teammate…The scary thing is, her best is yet to come!” one fan wrote.
Meanwhile, some critics on social media further mocked her for boasting about her 39% shooting percentage.
In response, one critical user replied, “I'm not trying to hate him at all, but 39% is a stupid job for a post player.”
Reese's shooting ability was not considered a strength of her game coming into the WNBA after a college championship career at LSU. At 6 feet 3 inches tall, Reese was considered the best defender and rebounder. She lived up to her reputation as a rookie and proved those who doubted her shooting ability were very much correct.
She averaged 13.1 rebounds per game in 2024, becoming the first player in WNBA history to grab 20 or more rebounds in three consecutive games. Reese at one point broke the WNBA's single-season assist record on September 1st. However, that record could not be maintained due to season-ending wrist surgery a few weeks later, and eventual MVP A'ja Wilson broke his own record in September. 11.
