Chicago Skystar Angel Reese set the new WNBA mark on Tuesday after the league said it could not demonstrate racist statements against her during the first game of the season against Indiana Fever.
Lease scored 13 points and 15 rebounds in a loss to Phoenix Mercury, 94-89.

She became the fastest player in her career to reach at least 500 points and 500 rebounds, and did that in 38 games. Houston previously held the mark, as he did it in the first 44 games of his career between the 1997-1998 season.
The lease has 502 points and 502 rebounds.
A milestone came as the WNBA closed its investigation into alleged hate comments against Sky players. The Associated Press reported that the league is specifically investigating allegations of racial slander against Lease.
Reese was not asked about the post-match investigation.

“We investigated reports of racist fan behavior near the court during the Chicago Sky at the Indiana Fever Game on May 17, 2025,” the league said.
“We have not demonstrated that based on information collected so far, including relevant fans, teams, arena staff and reviews of the audio and video of the game. The WNBA is committed to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for everyone and is committed to staying vigilant about enforcing the fan code of conduct.”
Sky's President and CEO Adam Fox expressed his passion for the investigation and gratitude to the league.
