The Indy 500 will pay special tribute to the US Army this anniversary weekend.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is filled with thousands of fans to see who will bring home the checkered flag of the most well-known IndyCar.
But before dozens of drivers aim to etch their names into history books, we pay tribute to the Army's 250th birthday.

Two Army Apache helicopters fly over the car on the first pace lap of the race. It is called the “American Pacing.”
Sunday was the 109th edition of Big Race, initially returning in 1911.
President Donald Trump held a military parade in June, celebrating military veterans and active service members, and Digital learned earlier this month to celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army.
The parade is scheduled for June 14th, the 250th birthday of the US Army and Trump's birthday.

The parade comes after Trump signed an executive order in January to create “Task Force 250.” It focuses on coordinating plans and activities to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The 250th anniversary of the founding of America is July 4th, 2026.
Led by a major celebration of 2026, the White House celebrated the anniversary of major events in America's founding, including the 250th anniversary of Patrick Henry's “Give Me Liberty or Death Death,” the 250th anniversary of Paul Rebya's famous ride in April, and the 250th anniversary of Lexington's 250th anniversary.

During his first term, Trump held a unique “Salute to America” event on July 4, 2019. This was different from the typical Independence Day celebrations made by past presidents.
