Arch Manning went through a closely followed recruiting process before deciding on Texas.
The quarterback comes from a family synonymous with football. His uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, and grandfather, Archie, all spent their college football careers at schools in the Southeastern Conference before making the leap to the NFL. Texas joined the SEC this year.
Arch saw limited action during his freshman year at the University of Texas. He played more minutes this season, starting in place of the injured Quinn Ewers.
Manning, 19, will not be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. But it appears his grandfather already has some idea of where the Longhorns star will end up if he reaches the professional ranks.

The former New Orleans Saints quarterback would like to see his grandson remain at the college level for a few more years, but would prefer to see Arch in a Dallas Cowboys uniform.

“Nobody's ever heard of that,” Manning said with a smile in a video posted to TikTok on Dec. 6. “If someone asked me, I would immediately say the Cowboys.”

Archie has no direct control over what happens with draft classes that feature Arch, but he has exercised influence in the past.
Eli Manning was drafted by the Chargers in 2004, but it is believed that Archie and other members of the Manning family warned the team not to draft the quarterback. Eli was drafted by the Chargers and traded to the New York Giants, a move many claimed was at his family's request.

Although the Cowboys have not advanced to the conference championship game since the 1995 season, the franchise remains arguably the most high-profile team in the league.

Manning threw for 939 yards this season. He also had nine touchdowns and two interceptions in seven games with the Longhorns. He has also shown the ability to use his legs, rushing for 95 yards and scoring four touchdowns on the ground in 2024.
Manning had just one rushing attempt for 5 yards in Texas' 22-19 overtime loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship in Atlanta on Saturday.
