Cardinal Robert Prebble, elected Thursday, is the first pope from the United States in Catholic Church history. The Chicago-born missionary, who received the name Leo XIV, also attended Villanova University near Philadelphia, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1977.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is one of the newest figures in the sports world and he places emphasis on the new pope. Williams needed only two words to express his obvious excitement. “Daaaaaa Pope,” he wrote to X on Thursday.

Williams experienced some highs and lows during his rookie season when the Bears stumbled on a 5-12 record. It remains unclear whether the new Pope is avid Bears supporters, but Chicago has many reasons to hope for 2025.
The Bears hired Ben Johnson as their new head coach in January. The team was then added to the roster after the NFL free agency period last month. Chicago acquired center Drew Dalman and strengthened the offensive line to defend Joe Sunny and Jonah Jackson.

The new Pope election also coincides with a trio of former Villanova players leading the New York Knicks in the NBA playoff run. It didn't take long for the four Photoshop photos to take a photo together to appear on social media.
The Knicks set Game 3 on Saturday in New York, scoring games 1 and 2 against defending champion Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. The Knicks have not won an NBA title since 1973.
