President Joe Biden sat down for an impromptu question-and-answer session during a White House press briefing Friday afternoon and insisted he is in “constant contact” with Vice President Kamala Harris. His comments may not be music to the ears of the Harris camp.
The president made a surprise appearance and spoke briefly about the port strike, the latest employment figures, and Hurricane Helen. No reporters asked questions about the administration's response to the storm, but one reporter asked Biden to assess whether Harris was deeply involved in policy.
“Well, she knows, I'm in constant contact with her. She knows that we're all singing from the same song sheet. We, she, I'm in constant contact with her. I helped get it passed,” Biden said.

“Now, she has had a major role in everything we've done, including passing bills that we were told we'd never pass. And she still is. “And she, and her staff, are working with me on everything we're doing,” Biden continued.

Since Biden announced he was ending his re-election campaign, the president has criticized Vice President Harris for the past three years, even though the Harris campaign has tried to distance her from everything from “Bidenomics” to inflation to the border crisis. It was strongly tied to the Biden administration's performance in the last half of its history. Harris became the candidate.
For example, Ms. Harris recently changed Mr. Biden's fiscal year 2025 plan from a 39.6% capital gains tax rate on salaries of $1 million or more to her own 28% tax rate. Harris also took charge of Biden's border policy, even though Biden handed over the reins to her in the White House in March 2021, as the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border surged to historic levels. He has claimed that he has never done so.
Axios reports that Harris will seek the light of day with Biden in August to defeat Trump as inflation soars, wars in Ukraine and the Middle East escalate, border crisis continues and crime concerns linger. It was reported that he would start watching. Harris' own slumping approval ratings weighed on her campaign. Other left-wing media outlets and commentators quickly followed suit.
But Biden is reportedly furious that the vice president is distancing himself from him behind the scenes. He also hinted that he believes he could have won the election had he not dropped out.

During an appearance on The View last week, Biden said, “I've never completely believed the argument that there's somehow overwhelming resistance to running again. The fact is, my polls have always shown that “It was within the range of surpassing (Trump),” he said. ” Biden joked about jumping back into the race during a surprise appearance at the White House on Friday.
Also, at the same time that Harris appeared on stage at a campaign event, she also began her first press conference at the White House since becoming president. Questions arose as to whether they were trying to lift him up.

Biden previously briefly donned a Trump hat on the anniversary of September 11, raising questions about the subject. The White House called it a “gesture of solidarity” after Biden has spent years denouncing Trump as a “threat to democracy.”
The Harris campaign has further distanced itself from the Biden administration, making less frequent references to it as the election approaches. During Tuesday's vice presidential debate, Harris' running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, referred to the incumbent president only as the “Biden-Harris administration.”
