Patrick Mahomes has been under constant pressure so far this season and his performance has impressed another multiple-time NFL MVP.
Mahomes, along with tight end Travis Kelce, led another game-winning drive for the Chiefs in Sunday's dramatic 26-25 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. But for the second straight game, their partners sat apart.
Mahomes' wife, Brittany, posted several photos of them with their two children to her Instagram Stories, while Kelsey's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, made multiple appearances on CBS' broadcast from her own booth celebrating the Chiefs.
This was the Chiefs' first game since former President Trump posted “I hate Taylor Swift!” on Truth Social after pop star Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Harris for president. Brittany has voiced her support for Trump on social media multiple times and was praised by the former president last week during an interview on “Fox & Friends,” during which Trump said he “much prefers Brittany Mahomes” to Swift after the endorsement. She has received intense backlash on social media in recent weeks for her interactions with Trump, much of it from Swift's fans.
But when asked about Trump's comments about his wife at a press conference last week, Mahomes praised her influence in the community and insisted he makes no political endorsements, though he did urge Americans to vote.
Three-time NFL MVP and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre praised Mahomes for taking the stance but criticized Swift for endorsing Harris.
“Good point Mahomes. I see a lot of celebrities trying to influence the audience instead of letting people think for themselves. If they're not clear on what's best for them and are easily swayed by their favorite pop artist then that's not a good thing,” Favre posted on X in response to an Outkick video outlining Mahomes' comments.

Favre himself did not choose this path during the most recent presidential election: The Hall of Fame quarterback endorsed Trump in a post on X on Oct. 30, 2020, citing Trump's positions on issues like free speech, gun rights and support for the military and police.
“My vote is for the freedom of speech and religion, the Second Amendment, hardworking taxpaying citizens, police and military that make this country great. In this election, we have a choice and it should be respected by all. For me and these principles, I will be voting for Donald Trump,” Favre wrote.
Favre's support came despite him having repeatedly said sport had become “too political”.

Like Brittany Mahomes, Favre has received backlash over his political beliefs. In late 2020 and early 2021, Favre hosted a podcast called “Bowling with Favre” with co-host Eric Boling. Favre drew backlash for comments he made on several topics, including his stance on NFL players kneeling during the national anthem and his desire to ban transgender people from women's sports.
After Derek Chauvin, the police officer responsible for George Floyd's death, was sentenced to prison, Favre said on a podcast that he found it “hard to believe” that Chauvin intended to kill George Floyd, a comment that drew backlash from current NFL players, including former Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith and fellow former NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith.
The podcast ended in June 2021.
Mahomes is still early in his career and hasn't courted the same controversy as Favre, but his wife said he has been helping her deal with the backlash she has received for coming out in support of Trump over the past month.
During a recent episode of the “WHOOP” podcast, Brittany said she's been relying on her three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback husband to help her get through the recent public scrutiny.

“Having him there helped me a lot because he's great at managing that stuff and blocking people out and all that kind of stuff,” she said. “Having him there to guide me and coach me was really helpful and I think that's what has led to our relationship now.”
She added that her husband has helped her develop an “I don't care” attitude.
“I think something my dad always told me was, 'Don't worry about what people think, especially people who don't know you,'” she says. “So social media used to really bother me, but now I honestly don't care what people say about me anymore.”
“And I think because he helped me, I was able to be myself and feel more confident in myself, and more confident in my relationship with him, and more confident in our life together. So why does it matter what other people say?”
Brittany and Patrick were born and raised in East Texas. They began dating while attending Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, where Patrick was the quarterback and Brittany played football. According to DataUSA, Whitehouse is a town of about 8,500 people that has a history of voting Republican.

Meanwhile, Swift has supported Democratic candidates dating back to 2018, backing Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the 2018 US midterm elections.
She later endorsed Joe Biden for president in 2020, but Tuesday's endorsement of Harris will likely carry more weight. It marks her first presidential endorsement since her popularity soared following her public relationship with Ella Tour and Kelsey.
Swift and Brittany were seen in the same suite at most of the Chiefs games Swift attended last year and were often the focus of NFL broadcasts multiple times per game, but that hasn't happened so far at any Chiefs home games.
Brittany and Swift were last seen embracing each other while attending the US Open men's singles final with Mahomes and Kelsey on September 8.

Swift attended the quarterback's birthday party on Monday. Swift is pictured with Mecole Hardman's fiancée, Chalia Gordon, and Chris Jones' wife, Shauna Weathersby. Gordon posted a photo taken in a photo booth that was apparently set up for the party. Swift otherwise kept a low profile while the focus was on the three-time Super Bowl champion. There are no photos of Swift and Brittany Mahomes together. It is unclear if the two interacted at the event.
The Chiefs' next game is Sunday night in Atlanta against the Falcons, but they won't return to Arrowhead Stadium until Oct. 7, when they face the New Orleans Saints, less than a month before the election.
