Will the Yankees be able to win the World Series this year? |Breakfast bowl
The New York Yankees have lost Juan Soto in free agency after a World Series defeat to the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Craig Carton, Danny Perkins, Greg Jennings and Yankees manager Aaron Boone will discuss the Yankees' expectations this year.
Several New York Yankees used bats that were redesigned during their team's season opening series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The new design brings the barrel closer to your hand instead of a more standard arrangement towards the edge of the bat. Brewers Closer Trevor Megill has had problems with using bats in “torpedoes” and shares his frustration after scoring 20 runs on Saturday on the way New York was blown away by Milwaukee.

The Yankees scored a franchise-recorded nine home runs during their 20-9 victory. Megill opposed the bats and claimed they were “bad,” but admitted they were the idea of ”genius.”
Bold predictions for the 2025 MLB season: Can both New York teams miss the playoffs?
“I think that's awful,” the Brewers relief pitcher told the New York Post. “We see what the data is saying. I've never seen anything like that before. I feel that it's something that's used in slo pitch softball. It's a genius: put all the Mass in one place. It could be the bush (league).

The shape of the bat is within the league rules and is acceptable.
According to MLB Rule 3.02, “The bat must be a smooth, round stick of less than 42 inches in length, at the thickest part of the diameter of less than 2.61 inches. Furthermore, the “experimental” bat cannot be used until the manufacturer has secured approval for Major League Baseball for his design and manufacturing methods.

Other players at Brewers' Clubhouse rebutted Megill's position, with one-base player Rhys Hoskins suggesting that the design intrigued him.
“I didn't see it until after the game,” Hoskins said. “They found a way to make it work. Logically, that makes a lot of sense, but I'm not a physicist. But do you really want to look into it?”
“Since the game, I've already spoken with some bat companies to see if I can make my model that way. “We see. Just because you worked for someone doesn't mean it works for everyone. It feels so touching to hit. But I'll give it a try.”

Nestor Cortez, who played for the Yankees from 2021-24 and gave up eight runs on Saturday, shrugged the new bat.
“That's nothing new to me,” Cortez said. “I know what a few people did last year. I don't think that's important to me. I got science and technology behind me. I don't know. It really doesn't bother me.”
The Yankees completed their brewers' three-game sweep with a 12-3 victory on Sunday.
