Even before the young Broncos player entered the league, he caught the attention of fellow Broncos great Champ Bailey. Speaking to FOX News Digital on behalf of Truelieve, Bailey said he sees a little bit of himself in Surtain, but thinks Surtain is a better setup for the pros.
“A little bit. I think he's much better than me in terms of his attitude, his professionalism, his technique,” he said. “When he came into the league, we knew he was going to get good right away. It was more, 'OK, can he maintain his success? Can he stay healthy?' ”
“These are really unknowns for an NFL player's career and the health aspect of it is very important. And he was able to do that and play consistently. If he's consistent. I always knew he was going to be an NFL player.''The way he approaches the game makes it the best no matter what.''

“He looks like a 10-year veteran playing like a guy in his prime,” he said. “He has no limits. He told people when he was drafted that he was on his way to the Hall of Fame. It all depends on his health. If he can stay healthy, he will be in the Hall of Fame. If things go well, he'll be in the Hall of Fame.'' He's definitely going to be the Defensive Player of the Year this year. ”
