Carrollton, Texas – Bryson DeChambeau's up-and-down shot from a bunker on the 18th hole, the second hole at Pinehurst, will forever be remembered as a highlight reel.
The 30-year-old made par on the 72nd hole with a shot from a trap that any golfer dreams of on Father's Day weekend to claim his second U.S. Open title.
No one would blame DeChambeau for talking about it or constantly reliving it, which he said he does “every day.”

But it's not just bunker shots that he looks back on.
“The bunker shots are great, but there were some shots I hit during the week, like the back eighth hole, I hit it over the green twice, I hit it up and down twice, and that's what helped me win the tournament,” DeChambeau said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.
“If we don't handle the ups and downs, we might not win the tournament. It paid off this week and how things progressed has led to this memorable week.”
DeChambeau had a little help when Rory McIlroy missed 6-foot putts on the final three holes to lose the tournament, extending his major championship winless streak to more than a decade.

At one point, McIlroy may have been the PGA golfer's most vocal opponent of LIV.
“You never want to lose a championship like that. You want to see somebody make a putt and make some crazy cool plays, but I can tell you there was a battle between us. It was LIV versus the PGA, for sure,” DeChambeau said.
“People are free to take it however they want, but from my perspective, it's a good competitive fight that brings attention to the game.”

“This was one of the most-watched majors in a long time and I want to thank Rory for that. I think it all came together for everybody, for the USGA and on the 18th hole at Pinehurst and it was a great finish.”
