“Mike Evans is the Walter Payton Man of the Year of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his unwavering dedication to serving the Tampa Bay community and improving the lives of countless people through the Mike Evans Family Foundation. This is the fourth time in his career that he has been nominated for the award. ”
DeSantis also cited Evans' many accomplishments on the field.
“Evans' career includes 168 games played, over 830 receptions, over 12,684 total yards, and 105 total receiving touchdowns,” the statement said.

“Evans’ accomplishments include being named to the Pro Bowl five times and second-team All-Pro in 2016 and 2023.”
The Florida governor also noted that Evans reached 1,000 yards in a season for the 11th time in a row in the closing moments of the Bucs' victory on Sunday.
Evans achieved 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, tying legendary Jerry Rice's all-time record. Evans has never finished a season with fewer than 1,000 yards.
