The Arizona Cardinals have made some adjustments to their in-game presentation for fans watching the team at State Farm Stadium this season.
Along with the addition of new seats, the Cardinals announced that the team has removed cheerleaders and flag runners from the sidelines in the name of safety.
“Cheerleaders will continue to perform on the field during breaks as they have in the past,” the team told The Arizona Republic on Tuesday.

“With the introduction of new field-level seating products this season, measures have been taken throughout the year to reduce crowding on the sidelines and increase safety by moving some personnel to other areas. This includes certain aspects of the game entertainment group, such as cheerleaders and flag runners, who are only on the field when performing.
“We will continue to evaluate these areas throughout the season to provide the cleanest and safest environment for everyone occupying the sidelines.”
The change appears to have upset Cardinals cheerleading alumni.
“We tried so hard,” former cheerleader Kim Denson told FOX 10 Phoenix. “We spent hours on it. It's amazing.”

Denson remained with the team during the 1994 and 1995 seasons.
Davis Berryhill, who was with the team from 2017 to 2021, told the station that the decision was “a little heartbreaking.”
“When I was on the team, the best part was watching the little girls in the stands. Showing them that women can be in professional sports, women can be in the NFL. Having female representation. I think it's great. It's really important,” Berryhill added.
Cheerleader or not, the Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 17-15 on Monday night.
