ESPN announced that Hollywood movie star Timothée Chalamet will be a guest picker on “College GameDay” this weekend in Atlanta ahead of the SEC Championship Game between Texas and Georgia.
However, fans were perplexed by Chalamet's selection. That's because the “Dune” star has no clear ties to either school.
“No one appreciates the SEC more than a New York City Ivy Leaguer with dual U.S. and French citizenship. He's nailed it,” X sources wrote.

Chalamet grew up in New York City and holds French citizenship through his French-born father. He spent the summer in France, staying with his grandparents.
The “Wonka” star also attended Columbia University, but transferred to New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Learning. Chalamet eventually dropped out of New York University and began acting full time.
“I love Timothée Chalamet's movies, but wow does he know anything about college football?” wrote another.
“I never looked at Timothée Chalamet and said, 'I wonder what he thinks about college football,'” one post read.

Chalamet is a big New York Knicks fan and has traveled several times to watch the team play at Madison Square Garden, but he is not known to be a college football fan. .
Typically, the show selects a guest picker who is connected to the game being previewed.
Former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields appeared as a guest picker for the Buckeyes' game against Indiana, when the program played in Columbus, Ohio. Former LSU pitcher Paul Skeens and LSU gymnast Olivia Dunn were the pickers for the program's LSU-Alabama game in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Golfer Scotty Scheffler was also a guest picker when the show visited his alma mater, Texas, to cover the Longhorns' game against Georgia.
Perhaps Chalamet will impress fans with his knowledge of college football and make his selection successful.
Georgia, ranked 5th in the rankings, will play against the 2nd ranked team. No. 2 Texas will play in the SEC Championship Game Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
