Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Zach Martin is retired after 11 seasons.
Martin, 34, informed Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones of his decision Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Martin began 162 games in his 11-year career, and was a fundamental piece of the Cowboys offensive line.

Martin created the Pro Bowl nine times and was designated All Pro seven times. Throughout his illustrious career, Martin had only seven people who had received penalties.
Since being drafted 16th overall in Notre Dame's 2014 NFL Draft, Martin has become the Cowboys' offensive line anchor. It was the only season that Martin made the Pro Bowl, with a season that had less than 14 games.
Only Bob Lily (11), Larry Allen (10), Mel Renfro (10) and Jason Whitten (11) have made the Pro Bowl more than Martin in Cowboys history.
Lily, Allen and Renfro are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but Witten is eligible for the first time this season.

Since Martin entered the league in 2014, the only player with a first-team All-Pro selection is Aaron Donald, who will be the eight Hall of Fame Hall of Fame inductees.
Martin considered retiring when he was on the verge of a new contract in the 2023 preseason, but agreed to a reworked deal, essentially a two-year deal.
Along with Martin, Travis Frederick and Tyrone Smith, the Cowboys had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Smith was a stubborn left tackle that made eight Pro Bowls, with Frederick as center and Martin at right guard.
Smith left for the New York Jets in free agency before last season.

Frederick has been an astonishing retirement after the sixth season of 2019. He sidelined everything in 2018 with Gilanbale Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that affects the nervous system. Frederick decided he couldn't live up to his expectations after returning to another season.
Smith, Martin and Frederick were the first round picks of the Cowboys in 2011, 2014 and 2013, and they hit them all. Now all of them are gone and the Cowboys are about to rebuild their offensive line.
Brock Hoffman started at Martin's location late last season and has the numbers to continue his role as the Cowboys are about to return to the playoffs after going 7-10 last season.
