Prescott will receive $231 million in guaranteed money, according to multiple reports.
Dallas did not immediately announce the contract extension.
The Prescott deal came shortly after the Cowboys signed wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a contract extension, and the NFL world expected team owner Jerry Jones to then negotiate a contract with Prescott, but that didn't happen right away.
Then on Sunday, about five hours before the start of the 2024 season, the Cowboys reportedly had reached a deal with Prescott. He was set to become a free agent after this season.

He set the record for the richest signing bonus in NFL history when he signed his first contract extension before the start of the 2021 season. It was later broken by Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Prescott was the runner-up for NFL MVP in 2023. He led the NFL with 4,516 passing yards and 36 touchdown passes in one of the best years of his career.
