Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones suggested on Monday that the team will use the upcoming NFL Draft to prioritize depth in quarterback positions.
Dak Prescott has suffered two devastating injuries in the last five seasons, and the Cowboys have been in a hurry, as long as their backup quarterback is gone. Cooper Rush, Traylanth and Andy Dalton were not the answers to replace him. When Prescott was healthy, the Cowboys acted as one of the best teams in the NFL. They scored at least 12 wins from 2021 to 2023.

Jones, who is in Indianapolis, NFL Scouting Combine, told reporters that developing a young quarterback behind Prescott is something the organization wants to deal with.
“You know, one of our goals is to get a younger quarterback in the draft,” Jones said via the Dallas Morning News. “I don't know where that will be.
“That's why I gave Trey a (fourth round pick); every quarterback in the first round, even in the first round, they're always much higher than you think.”

The Cowboys acquired a race from the San Francisco 49ers prior to the 2023 season, but he played modestly. Rush signed with the Cowboys in 2017 and is regularly used as a QB2 option for most of his career in Dallas. He was briefly present in 2020 with the New York Giants.
