Reduce cross-party dating
As a new presidential administration takes office in 2025, the political views of many single people, especially straight men, will be swayed. In the 2024 presidential election, women ages 18 to 29 supported Vice President Kamala Harris by 38 points, compared to men who supported her by a 38-point margin. Among those in the same age group, they favored President-elect Donald J. Trump by 13 points, a difference of 51 points. From reproductive rights to men feeling disillusioned with their prospects for success, much of this election revolved around gender. There's no way that wouldn't affect love. Some men who are already conservative will hide or downplay their opinions to appeal to women. — Hannah Orenstein, editor of Bustle and author of Meant to be Mine
Parent-funded dating app subscription
I predict that parents will pay for their children's dating services. Moms have been sending us DMs and filling out their child's profiles. So we actually allow parents (or grandparents) to purchase the setup as a gift. This likely comes from parents recognizing the exhausting nature of dating and how different it was when they were partners. And with the average age of marriage gradually increasing, families are ready to step into the ring and help expand their families. — Nandini Muraj, matchmaker and co-founder of dating concierge app Sitch
Platonic romance priorities
The prediction for 2025 is platonic romance! Women have moved beyond self-care to act in a mode of self-preservation. For some people, dating can be exhausting, confusing, or unfulfilling. Women “date” their friends instead of going through red pill podcasts and “your body is my choice” friend hell. Depending on geographic location, various abortion laws make dating and sex a life sentence for some women. When you include racial consequences, pregnancy can be a death sentence. Women are choosing safe options. Statistically, this does not necessarily include men. Whether it's hot yoga, group Pilates, pasta making or flower arranging classes, girls' trips, movie dates or potlucks, women are ditching dates with guys and going out with girls. — Lauren Napier, beauty and lifestyle expert and founder of lifestyle brand The Sp1nster
AI can help solve your dating woes
Many men will continue to have a hard time getting their foot in the door as they meet more financially well-off women, women with bigger job titles and higher incomes. Women will find men “intimidating” when they are disconnected from their value in the marketplace. And AI will be your ultimate ally. More people will use AI to write profiles, edit photos, and even write entire conversations on dating apps. Some use AI clones to do everything. Others plan to use an AI dating coach to practice chatting before a date, help them come up with conversation topics, and suggest ideas for pre-planned dates in their city . — Matthew Hussey, Dating and Relationship Coach
Long distance will become more popular
I think long distance relationships are becoming more common thanks to the internet. People living in coastal cities seem to prefer the freedom of their own lives and the sexiness of a Parisian crush they can message all day long (My Only Will Is to Live). We're all going to see a huge resurgence in phone calls because we've all experienced hand cramps from texting fever, and phone sex is actually better than sex in the physical realm. — Steph Doug, stand-up comedian and host of the digital dating show Hot & Single
