When White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that in his first term in President Donald Trump's second term, the new independent media would be invited to play a major role in covering the administration, it was as quickly as the group's eyes from traditional media were used to.
Remembering Trump's first term is nothing more than a question of his press conferences often left to the sport of full contact, former CNN correspondent Jim Acosta wrestling as Mike's female White House aide, such as a certain “gotcha” question.

Media exchanges at the time created entertainment, but there was far more heat than light. While the White House press in Trump's first term has always sought to expose Trump about this or that, he rarely understood the administration's policies.
Of course, there were exceptions such as your favorite cable news network, where White House correspondents play it in the middle even when they were in office. But in general, Trump faced a daily inquisition, and his successor, President Biden, gained a more or less free pass through his four years of attitude as president.

Today, the addition of independent outlets such as Epoch News, Post-Millennials and OAN has transformed Trump's coverage from a hackling cry to a substantial, almost daily debate of administration actions and priorities.
With the rejected Associated Press waiver, who has decided to oddly die on the hilltop to defend the name “Gulf of Mexico,” all the old Trump from the New York Times to NBC News is still in the room. They don't control it completely anymore.
In contrast to five years ago, if you're listening to a press conference with Trump now, you won't leave the impression that he's a sort of pariah who everyone hates and thinks he's a liar. There was a complete media out there, bringing a committee to the process, but there are still some difficult questions.
Will the new, almost conservative media in the White House throw some softball? of course. Online is grateful to Leavitt for opening the room a bit to saccharin? surely.
But what comparison? The mainstream media, which former White House spokesman Karine Jean-Pierre just said that Biden fits the fiddle and that she is a very important historical figure, has just nodded. Spare me.

The fact in question is that outlets like Daily Caller and Steve Bannon's War Room are less biased to the right than the long-standing NPR of oval office staples. Even Super Leftwing California Governor Gavin Newsson had Bannon on his new podcast.
For four years there was a White House press corps that ran Biden and KJP covers, except for Fox News and true clear politics. Even CNN's Jake Tapper has a book on it, apologizing for the horrifying coverage of Grandpa Joe, who is essentially a liberal media.
So, if we all admit that the press has caused terrible damage to the American people with Biden's one-sided and advanced reporting, can we complain that both sides of the American political disparity are now represented in the room?
70% of Americans today do not trust journalism, for very good reasons like the ones mentioned above. I am a journalist and don't even trust journalism. However, this fresh approach from the White House could be a step towards restoring some degree of trust.

Americans know they only get one side of the story. We have a basic sense of fairness that is ranked when a powerful thumb looks like scale. And by inviting all the perspectives in the room, the White House allows us to measure us freely and equitably.
I have come out in independent, conservative media and written for outlets that include federalists and Daily Wire who have an unwavering commitment to integrity. Of course, they belong to the White House and it's better for everyone to be there.

To turn the old proverb upside down, “If it breaks, fix it,” news media's White House reporting has been grossly broken for years.
