Colorado star quarterback Shedur Sanders wanted to celebrate with his parents on Friday's Senior Day.
According to a conversation between Shedur and his brother Shiloh in a video posted to the newspaper, he wanted this so badly that he went looking for his mother, Pilar, even though his father, head coach Deion Sanders, was there. He said he persuaded her to participate in the event. Shiloh Sanders' official YouTube channel.
“My brother (Shedur) had just come to pick up my mom from the stands for Senior Day, and we didn't know we had to walk. They wouldn't walk. It's like World War III trying to get them to walk together,'' Shiloh said.

According to the video, Shedul and Shiloh walked with Dion across a field during the celebration and met his mother on the other side. Dion patted his sons on the back as they approached Pilar and quickly left.
Pilar then hugged her sons in the middle of the field as they celebrated and took pictures.

Dion and Pilar married in 1999. At the time, she was a model and he was an NFL star at the height of his fame as a player. They had Shiloh, Shedur, and a daughter, Shelomi.
The couple filed for divorce in 2013, making it Sanders' second divorce. He divorced his first wife, Carolyn Chambers, in 1998, a year before marrying Pilar. Dion and Chambers had two children, Dion Jr. and Diondre.
When he and Pilar divorced in 2013, Sanders was initially awarded custody of all three of the couple's children, and Pilar was also given visitation rights. Still, there was a custody battle afterwards.
Before the divorce was finalized, Pilar claimed that a prenuptial agreement between her and Dion was forged in 2012. She was trying to get more money from the Pro Football Hall of Famer in alimony and child support.

“It's greed,” Dion said in court at the time. “You signed a contract. We had a prenup and now you don't like the terms. You're saying it's over and your lifestyle will no longer be the same.” Because we recognize that. That's greed.”
The judge overseeing the dispute said Pilar Saunders signed the agreement voluntarily and could not again argue in court that the agreement was invalid.
“It's David and Goliath,” Pilar's attorney Larry Friedman said, according to NBC Dallas-Forth Worth. “We'll stay the course. We're the underdogs and it's hard to win when you play by the rules.”

“I obviously didn't marry my husband for the money,” Pilar told NBC Dallas Forth Worth. “I've been married to him for 14 years. My intention was to be married forever, but obviously it wasn't his.”
Dion also filed a defamation lawsuit against Pilar, accusing him of damaging her reputation over allegations of domestic violence. Dion won the lawsuit, but an investigation found no evidence to support Pilar's claims.

Pilar then gained custody of her two youngest children, Shedur and Shelomi, in 2017. Still, Dion was a big part of Schedeur's life throughout his college career, serving as head coach at both Jackson State and Colorado.
Dion said she devoted herself to Christianity soon after her first divorce. Sanders spoke about his dedication to Christ in a November 2023 interview with Bear Grylls on “Running Wild.”
“That's when I went through my first divorce. I knew then that the only people who really loved me were my two children. Now they're gone, now they're taken away. It was traumatic and I had suicidal thoughts,” Sanders said.
“I ran this car off the side of the highway, and deep down I thought this car was going to flip over, but it didn't, and I was still there. Right after that, I just had to come to that place.'' Lord, I raised my hands and said, “No more, I give up.''
