Sonny Hostin may have revealed the real reason Democrats lost the election, but it was all wrong. She recently said on “The View” that “what we lacked were white women, about 52% of whom voted for Donald Trump. From what I understand, uneducated white women.” Ta.
One of the realities of the Democrats' crushing defeat in this election is that they think they have a monopoly on defining what it means to be “educated” in America today, but this is not true. This is the reality of what this word means in America today. Let's explore this.
The Latin root of the word “educate” is “ex-ducere,” or “to lead outward.” The idea is that the educational process leads you from your previous self to a new self that is more knowledgeable, more skilled, wiser, and more experienced. Nowhere in this definition does it say that obtaining a diploma, especially a university diploma, constitutes higher education. But Democrats are increasingly defining the concept of being educated in America as closely tied to receiving a four-year college education. I'm telling you, there are a lot of educated underdogs in America, a lot of kids who graduate from college with no idea what they want to do, figure it out, and end up becoming baristas at Starbucks. I'm here.
I'm a black Ph.D. And this is why I quit academia
What does it actually mean to be educated? There are four buckets.
formal education
Some might say it's reading, writing, and arithmetic. Formal education requires following a curriculum designed to impart knowledge, develop skills, and instill values across a variety of disciplines. Arguing that formal education equips individuals with basic academic and professional competencies, and that university is more important for learning how to become an “adult” on one's own than the actual course itself Some people. Formal education serves as a path to personal growth and career opportunities for many people.
street smart
Street smarts refers to practical intelligence and survival skills honed through real-world experience. This type of smartness includes quick thinking, resourcefulness, and the ability to navigate difficult or unfamiliar environments. Street smart people are good at making split-second decisions, solving problems on the go, and handling difficult situations. Although they may lack academic background, they often have strong intuition and the ability to accurately read people and situations. Street smarts are especially useful in unpredictable and high-pressure scenarios.
There are a lot of entrepreneurs in America who didn't graduate college or even high school, but they build multi-million dollar businesses, create jobs, give back to their communities, and build a strong tax base. We support Some argue that their education is in some ways much more practical than obtaining a university diploma.

social intelligence
Social Smart focuses on interpersonal skills and understanding human behavior. Sociable people are better at communicating, empathizing, and building relationships. They are adept at reading social cues, resolving conflicts, and promoting teamwork. Social smarts are essential for roles that require collaboration, leadership, and influence. Unlike book or street smarts, social intelligence bridges the cognitive and emotional realms, making it important in both professional and personal settings.
adversity index
This is the fourth area of education that many people never talk about in America. One of the reasons Donald Trump won the election is because he is good at overcoming adversity. Adversity Quotient (AQ) refers to an individual's ability to face, endure, and overcome challenges and difficult situations. It measures how well you respond to adversity, including resilience, adaptability, and perseverance in difficult situations. This type of education is a learned skill, which we often define in terms of “developing character.”

Given all of this, one might wonder whether the Democratic Party has become a party disproportionately steered primarily by liberal, college-educated people. And with this demographic shift, what are the results that we saw in this election?
The liberal, progressive, college-educated advantage over Democratic Party policies alienates at least some socially conservative, working-class nonwhites, thereby influencing elections, albeit in small numbers. It drove some of them into the arms of Republican candidates and drove them to victory in this election. Buyers beware, American education is not defined by a diploma.
