With the prospect of a partial government shutdown looming, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) announced Thursday that he will “vote to open the government and not close it,” as the Senate is poised to vote for government funding measures that lead to the House of Representatives to avoid shutdowns.
He said, “The bill is very bad, but the possibility of a shutdown will affect America much worse.”
The Senator's announcement urged some Democrats to push them down.
“We can't stress enough how wrong it is,” said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) of Schumer's argument. “Vote for this CR is codifying the chaos and reckless reductions Elon Musk is pursuing to fund billionaires' tax cuts.

Republicans hold a majority in the Senate, but even if all GOP senators are on the proposal, Senator Rand Paul is R-Ky. declared themselves “hell no,” so they cannot proceed to the vote unless multiple Democrats overcome the procedural hurdles.
