Details of Mary Lou Letton's DUI arrest were reported earlier this month.
West Virginia Fairmont Police reportedly stopped gold medalists on May 17 following reports of people driving “all the road.”
According to criminal charges, via WNEM, Reton smells alcohol and slurps her words, and she fails an outdoor sobriety test. Officials also reported that they were observing a container of wine in the passenger seat.

Reton, 57, refused a roadside breathing test and blood test. She was released from custody after paying $1,500 in personal recognition debt.
Fox News Digital has requested a Retton representative for comment.
Reton, 57, was diagnosed with “a rare form of pneumonia” in 2023, and her family issued an alarm saying that she was “fighting for her life.” She was placed in intensive care unit for a period of time as she helped the doctor fight the illness.
“This is serious, this is life and I'm so grateful to be here,” she said in 2024 on NBC's “Today.”

Letton was called “American Lover” for his gold medal-winning performance at the 1984 Summer Tournament in Los Angeles. She was just 16 years old when she got the perfect 10 in her floor exercises, the perfect 10 in her vault in her final two rotations, and the first American woman to win an Olympic All-Round title.
She won five medals that year. It's one gold, two silver, two bronze.
After she retired from gymnastics, Reton became a motivational speaker and frequently shared a message about the benefits of proper nutrition and exercise.
