On Friday night during Game 1 of the World Series, a Los Angeles Dodgers fan nearly became a second Jeffrey Meyer.
New York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres threw a ball to left field in the top of the ninth inning, and the ball went out of bounds and appeared to be a clutch home run. However, it was determined that the fan had reached over the fence and interfered with play.

Fans immediately recalled the Meyer incident during the 1996 American League Championship Series between the Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles.
Meyer deflected a home run off Derek Jeter that would have gone over the right-field fence and at least over the head of Baltimore outfielder Tony Tarasco.
Jeter's home run led the Yankees to victory in Game 1 of that series. They won the series en route to the World Series title.
