Government agencies, particularly those in charge of high-tech infrastructure, are messing around with Elon Musk and his colleagues at government efficiency (“Doge”) who are cleaning and cleaning. And I couldn't be happier to see it.
My experience working with the government as the White House Chief Information Officer and as a private sector cybersecurity consultant has taught me two things. The US government has the most talented engineers and cyber warriors on the planet. But even the best operatives ham ow by bureaucratic bangles, infighting, waste, outdated infrastructure, and other unnecessary complications.
Masks and Doges offer the best chance of a generation to unleash the complex chunks of cable that are supposed to keep our government, our economy and our people safe.

Me and all other federal departments and agency CIOs had to fight the same battle as the established bureaucracy that Musk is fighting now. A lot has been created as a young “Tech Bros” executive working at Doge. The UK's Daily Telegraph calls them “a fresh muscovite of college.” But don't make any mistakes. They would not have been able to obtain in the musk trajectory if they weren't for the adult talents that were also recognized elsewhere.
The real reason why Big Technology is working with Trump 2.0
One of these Whiz Kids was awarded a $250,000 award for using AI to reveal hidden contents of ancient Roman papyrus. Another was given $100,000 in seed money from Openai and found his own startup. These fresh minds may be what we need to rebuild a system that is so outdated.
You don't need to be a technology or cybersecurity expert to understand that the current situation is efficient at best and at worst possible risk. Last December, the United States was hit by two of the worst cyberattacks in our history courtesy of elite Chinese hackers.
In one assault, they violated multiple US telecom companies and even gained access to critical law enforcement agencies and networks used to gather information. In the aftermath, there was confusion about whose job it was to secure a critical communications network. Are you a government agency, such as a Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) or a telecommunications company itself? What about data collected by law enforcement but stored in private companies' systems?
Trump Mad Syndrome was real. The same goes for “long TDS”
Another Chinese attack targeted the Ministry of Finance. There, hackers accessed documents and workstations by eroding the security keys of third-party vendors. Again, it is overly complicated to sort out security responsibilities between the Treasury, Homeland Security and the White House, not to mention the obvious failure to properly review third-party vendor security protocols. It's become.
A few years ago, a major ransomware attack shut down fuel pipelines across the country, leading to the exposure of shortages and serious infrastructure security flaws.
In all these cases, confusing, fragmented monitoring has made recovery (and the learning process the lesson process) slowly and inefficient. They showed that these inefficiencies, as well as outdated security models and unclear paths of surveillance pose a threat to our national security, economic stability and public safety.
President Trump has made a panicked appointment with big technology
All this is true today. Our government's inefficiency has resulted in complexity in systems, processes and surveillance.
Doge has the opportunity to break complexity, drive accountability and ensure cybersecurity measurements work before the next major violation. Government technical equipment should probably welcome a forensic review of fine teeth if the territorial idea is not so completely ingrained.
By identifying inefficiencies in operational procedures, Musk and his team can find ways to streamline government functions, reduce waste, and improve services.
In Russia, look at outer space for Trump's Greenland Playbook ambitions, progress in China's Arctic
For example, implementing zero-based budgeting can save taxpayers money. This forces institutions to rethink their spending, ensuring fuel economy of resources rather than bureaucracy.
You also need to prioritize the most valuable investments, such as upgrading outdated systems to generate better services for your citizens, speed of processing time, and more robust data management. Encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies can set precedents for more agile and responding government operations.

We know that this reorganization has created a lot of uncertainty for our country's hardworking technology teams. That's very strict. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Our technology is broken. This is painful, but it has to be done. Trust that your talent, resilience and work ethic will open the door.
Dive deeper into Doge people, processes and technology, reducing complexity, increasing transparency, reducing attack surfaces and making catastrophic cyber incidents far less.
