Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa experienced another scary “Thursday Night Football” moment after suffering a concussion after taking a hard hit from Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
The Dolphins' medical staff was able to determine the signal-caller had a concussion just six minutes after Tagovailoa left the field under his own power.
On fourth-and-4 with the Dolphins needing a touchdown to stay in the game, Tagovailoa stepped in the pocket, slipped through the sticks and took off running to keep the drive going.

Despite missing the first down line, Tagovailoa kept running and ran into Hamlin in the open field, and instead of sliding, he got ahead of him with his head. Hamlin didn't have to do much to bring him down, as Tagovailoa quickly fell to the ground and hit his head on the Hard Rock Stadium turf.
Tagovailoa got a first down, but ended up paying the ultimate price when he put his hands up for a teammate to pick it up.
Dolphins player Tua Tagovailoa has been considering retirement for “some time” after suffering multiple concussions.
But Tagovailoa appeared confused, his hands were moving uncontrollably and he was holding his head as the Dolphins began to surround him, with players from both the Bills and Dolphins taking a knee and medical personnel quickly rushing over to evaluate the quarterback.
After speaking with him, Tagovailoa eventually walked away as strong as he could, but with a visible limp. Instead of going into the blue medical tent, Tagovailoa walked off the field with a trainer to the locker room, where it was determined he did indeed have a concussion.
Tagovailoa did not miss a game during the 2023 season, but the 2022 campaign featured some scary moments for the left-handed quarterback, as he suffered three concussions, one of which came when he left the field on a stretcher during “Thursday Night Football” against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tagovailoa appeared to have a concussion during a home game against the Bills, but it was determined to be a back injury after he stumbled after hitting his head hard on the ground during a play.
Just a few days later, during a Week 4 game against the Bengals, Tagaoivailoa was thrown to the turf at Cincinnati's Paycol Stadium, a disturbing sight as his hands stuck out, something that sometimes happens with head injuries that cause the fingers to bend.
Players prayed on the field as Tagovailoa was carried off on a stretcher. He missed two games before eventually returning in Week 7.
Then, in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers, Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion of the season, essentially sidelining him for the rest of the year.
The Hawaii native admitted during the offseason that there were times when he considered retiring due to research on CTE and how head injuries can impact a person's life, but he was confident heading into last season and proved it by playing in every game.
