No one seems more surprised than Drew Lock by the New York Giants' decision to start third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito over veteran reserve Drew Lock this weekend.
While speaking to reporters inside the Giants' locker room on Wednesday, Lock said he looked at the depth chart and said that if DeVito was previously listed as the No. 2 quarterback, he would be named the starter Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were specifically asked why.

“That may be a question I still have myself,” he replied.

“I was told it was going to be two people, and, I don't know, it's just an interesting situation. There's not much I can really say about that, again, I'm here I'm going to come.' (DeVito) And we still communicate and we're still very good friends, believe it or not,'' he continued with a smile.
Daniel Jones was benched Monday in favor of fan favorite DeVito. Head coach Brian Daboll cited DeVito's 3-3 record last season as one of the reasons for that.

“I have a lot of respect for all three of those guys,” Daboll said. “Evaluating a lot of things, watching a lot of tape, and after being around Tommy last year, he gave us a little bit of a spark, so that's why we're going with Tommy. .

“Drew will be our backup. We'll continue to work with him. He's been nothing but a professional, and so has Daniel. It's never easy to have conversations with players, but this is a necessary move for us. I feel like that and I'm looking forward to it.''I'm working with Tommy to get ready for the game against Tampa.'' ”
Daboll said Wednesday that the team will make a final decision by Friday on whether Jones will serve as the emergency third quarterback.

Jones has thrown eight touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He is 3-13 in his last 16 starts, ranking New York last in the league and averaging 15.6 points per game.
