A suspected drunk driver drove toward Vice President Kamala Harris' motorcade on an interstate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to FOX 6, the incident happened on Interstate 94 near the Marquette interchange on Monday around 8:20 p.m., the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said.
A 55-year-old man was seen driving an SUV westbound in the eastbound lane when he approached Harris' convoy, nearly hitting a vehicle in her convoy.

As the car approached the convoy, officers stopped the man, determined he was impaired and took him into custody on recommended charges of DUI and recklessly endangering safety, although he has not yet been formally charged.
According to WISN, the arrest report states that when the officer told the driver that he had almost been hit by a car in Harris' motorcade, he became “extremely surprised,” entered the highway, and was struck by another vehicle. It is written that he “does not remember'' nearly colliding with the police.

The man also said he did not intend to harm Ms. Harris or anyone associated with her campaign.
He failed several field sobriety tests and had an open beer can in his vehicle, according to the arrest report.
The man remained in jail without bail Tuesday night.
There were no injuries in the incident.

The U.S. Secret Service said it was aware of the incident and appreciated the response from lawmakers.
The agency said, “We are aware of an incident involving a driver who was traveling the wrong way on the highway while the Vice President was in a motorcade. The Milwaukee Sheriff's Office stopped the driver and took him away. “We are grateful for the response of the person who was taken into custody for drunk driving,'' Secret Service spokesman Joe Routh told WISN.
