Key down-ballot races in the current state
Arizona 1st Congressional District: This district covers the northeastern portion of Maricopa and is represented by Republican Rep. David Schweikert, who has served in the Arizona State Assembly since 2011. In the last presidential election, Biden won the area he represents by a 1.5 point margin (Dave's redistricting). This will be a very competitive race. Schweikert is running against former state Rep. Amish Shah, a Democrat. Arizona's 6th Congressional District: Tucked away in the southeastern corner of the state, the 6th Congressional District is represented by freshman Republican Rep. Juan Siscomani. In 2020, Biden won this area by an even narrower margin (just 0.1 percentage points), making it another closely watched race. Siscomani is running against former state Rep. Kirsten Engel, also a Democrat. Texas' 28th Congressional District: Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, who has long served the 28th District, is seeking his 10th term this year. He won the final race at midterms by a 13-point margin. In the last presidential election, Biden won the region by seven points. The Justice Department indicted Cuellar in May on charges of money laundering, conspiracy and bribery. The embattled incumbent will face Republican former Navy commander Jay Furman. The race is Leanne D. Texas' 34th Congressional District. In southeast Texas, incumbent Democrat Vicente Gonzalez is seeking a fifth term in Congress. He won the midterm elections by 8.5 points. He will face former Republican state Rep. Mayra Flores, who served as the district's temporary representative in 2022. This Bay Area ranks as Lean Democratic Nevada's 3rd District. The area roughly borders Las Vegas, but extends westward as far as Henderson. , Boulder City and rural Clark County. Democratic Rep. Susie Lee has served in the district since 2019. This year, he will face Republican Drew Johnson. This race is ranked Lean D.
Arizona is one of the most competitive states this cycle
President Biden won a decisive victory in Arizona in the last presidential election, flipping the state to Democrats for the first time since 1996.
Four years later, the state's competition remains high. A Fox News poll in late September found Republican former President Trump at 50% and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris at 47%. An AARP poll from the same period had Trump leading Harris by two percentage points, 49% to 47%.
Maricopa County remains the state's most important battleground. It is the fourth most populous county in the United States, home to more than 60% of Arizona's registered voters, and has a particularly large suburban population in Mesa.
Arizona has a higher proportion of Hispanic voters than any other region in the country, and while it favored Biden by 19 points in the last election, it is showing signs of shifting toward Trump.
Republicans have gained the most in sparsely populated rural areas, particularly Mojave County (Trump plus 51) and Graham County (Trump plus 45), but their margins have increased the most in suburban and suburban areas of Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima counties. are.

The Grand Canyon State will also vote on a new senator after independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema decided not to run for re-election this year. The Republican candidate is Kari Lake, a former TV news host who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2022. Democrats have endorsed Rep. Ruben Gallego, a former Marine who represents Arizona's 3rd Congressional District.
The Senate race is ranked Lean D.

Georgia is one of the most competitive states this cycle
Georgia has voted Republican in all but two elections over the past 40 years. The first time was former President Clinton's landslide victory in 1992, and the second time was in 2020, when Biden returned the state to Democrats by a margin of 11,779 votes.
If either candidate wins here, the path to victory will be easy. The Peach State has 16 electoral votes, with recent polls showing a close race and ranking high in the FOX News Power Rankings.

North Carolina is the top swing state this cycle
The last time North Carolina voted for a Democratic president was in 2008, when Sen. Barack Obama won the state by a margin of 0.3 percentage points (14,177 votes).
In 2016, Trump won comfortably by a margin of 3.7 points, but in 2020, that margin narrowed to 1.3 points over Biden.

A Fox News poll late last month found that the two 2024 presidential candidates were separated by just one point, with Democratic candidate Vice President Harris at 49% and former President Trump at 50%. North Carolina is ranked a toss-up in the Fox News Power Rankings.
Competition is intensifying in the state as the population increases. Over the past ten years, North Carolina's population has increased by approximately 1.1 million people, the fourth largest increase of any state.
Much of that growth is occurring in urban and suburban areas such as solid-blue Mecklenburg and Wake counties.
The pandemic has brought an influx of more affluent urban Americans from surrounding states, as well as some college voters.
Although rural areas have experienced some population decline, they still represent a significant portion of the statewide vote and overwhelmingly vote Republican.
