First Fox: In President Donald Trump's first 100 days, the Energy Department says it saved more than $700 million in taxpayers by cutting programs labeled “wasteful.”
Immediate savings are progressive climate change goals related to the cancellation of ongoing contracts at DOE related to topics such as Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and the Democratic Green New Deal proposal. They are part of the Trump administration's forecast savings in savings as a result of the cancellation of additional contracts that the Trump administration has yet to be finalized.
“In the first 100 days of the Trump administration, the Department of Energy saved American taxpayers over $3 billion in predicted savings, which is just the beginning.”

To date, Mietderich said DOE has suspended contracts supporting DEI initiatives and the Green New Deal priorities, as well as other “wasteful” programs, generating more than $700 million in immediate savings for US taxpayers.
“President Trump and Secretary Wright are more fully committed to the government that is more responsible, efficient and effective managers of the US taxpayer dollars,” he said.
According to Elon Musk's Government Efficiency (DOGE), during Trump's first 100 days of office, the administration's efforts have saved the government at least $160 billion. According to Doge, that's $993.79 per taxpayer.
The Agency Efficiency Leaderboard shows that the Department of Health and Human Services ranked number one by tracking which departments saved the most.

Following HHS, the second General Services Bureau, number 3 Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor are number 4, and the Human Resources Bureau closes in the top five.

The Department of Justice is ranked last just before the Department of Veterans Affairs. Doe is ranked as the third-lowest agency, according to Doge.
The savings reportedly stem from a combination of asset sales, contracts, lease cancellations or renegotiations, deleting fraud and inappropriate payments, cancelling grants, saving interest, changing programs, saving regulations and reducing the workforce.
