Did the WNBA treat Kaitlyn Clark unfairly? | The Herd
Caitlin Clark set a WNBA record with 19 assists in the Indiana Fever's loss to the Dallas Wings. Clark was left off the Women's Olympic Team and the WNBA All-Star Skills Competition. Colin Cowherd had this to say about the WNBA's handling of the situation…
ESPN host Andraya Carter praised Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark for cutting through the “nonsense and noise” in her debut WNBA year, winning the Associated Press WNBA Rookie of the Year award unanimously and being named to the All-WNBA First Team.
Clarke faced a lot of criticism even before she traveled to New York for the WNBA draft. No one in the league or big names in the past had high expectations for her, and there were attempts to downplay her accomplishments throughout the season.

As a result, Clark set a rookie record and a single-game record, leading his team back to the postseason.
“To me, it was a great play from a rookie,” Carter said on ESPN's “First Take.” “The numbers that Caitlin put up and the way she elevated her teammates, you can't help but think that the whole offense changed with Caitlin Clark coming in, the whole offense sped up. … The whole team elevated with the addition of Caitlin Clark.”

“This organization hasn't had a 20-win season since 2015. They haven't been to the playoffs since 2016. When you talk about a rookie master class, certainly Kaitlyn had to figure it out. Certainly there were turnovers. Certainly there were lessons she had to learn, but she stayed the course. This team started 1-8, but none of them went off the rails. She played and was herself on the court, but at some moments she was led by her teammates, at other moments she allowed herself to settle, and dealt with a ton of nonsense and noise off the court.”
“From now on, Caitlin Clark's voice will be the unit of measurement when it comes to noise at basketball games.”
The Fever guard broke the league's single-season assist record (337), became the most points ever scored by a rookie (769) and led Indiana to the postseason.

Clark started all 40 regular season games for the Fever, averaging 19.2 points per game. She was the first rookie to record a triple-double and the first player in Fever franchise history to do so. She set a WNBA record for most assists in a game with 19 assists in July against the Dallas Wings.
