“Around the Horn” will leave the airwaves later this month. This means that some of the show's panelists will be making their final appearances in the coming weeks.
That includes Kate Fagan, who last appeared on Thursday's show. Longtime writer and reporter Fagan also played college basketball in Colorado.
Fagan has been appearing on the show since he was first hired by ESPN in 2012. She left the network in 2018, but continues to appear in the program.

Fagan decided to be the “winner” of Thursday's show against Jemel Hill, who returned to the show after leaving the network in 2018. The winners of the episode usually provide a short monologue, with Fagan saying, “It's a privilege and a platform to be part of this show.”
Marking her final episode on Thursday, she used the platform to pleas for trans athletes.
“I know it's my last time, and I want to say something worthy of that platform, and it deserves trans kids to play sports,” she said. “Think of what you remember from your time playing sports. 99% of that is the first time Jersey discovers your favorite numbers, community, joy, and those high fives.
“It's the moment when you play great with your teammates. It's a sense of belonging. And it's a gender-free. Trans kids are just like everyone else.
“Sports is a joy. Sports is humanity. And the more people have it, the better.”

There is no law or order that prohibits transgender children from participating in sports. President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February banning biological men identifying girls or women as competing against biological women.
ESPN announced the cancellation of the show in March, and shortly afterwards, former panelist Jay Mariotti, who was a regular on the show until his 2010 domestic violence arrest, said in an interview that it was cancelled because he was “waking up.”
“I think what John Skipper wanted from some of the shows is that he started setting up people on shows that became anti-Trump,” Mariotti told Front Office Sports.
In a recent post about his own substance, “The corners ended a long time ago sthol – when I left the show, Mariotti repeated that some of the panelists “woke up” and others went “dope.”
