The charges stem from a Title IX complaint filed by San Jose State assistant head coach Melissa Batty-Smooth, who was suspended on Oct. 29. Batty Smooth was suspended shortly after the charges were filed, much to the dismay of Slusser and the rest of the team.
San Jose State volleyball player Chandler Manuski details an early October incident in which he and other teammates, including Fleming, broke team rules and snuck out of the team hotel the night before a game against Colorado State. cited in another lawsuit. Manuski then claimed that during the Oct. 3 game, San Jose State lost the game, he learned of Fleming's alleged plan to have Jones spike Slusser in the face.

Slusser previously said in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital that he believed he was treated unfairly by the university after he was informed of Fleming's alleged scheme and that the university did not adequately investigate the matter. he claimed.
“If this had been me, and if it had been me threatening to do this to a teammate who caused such a fuss, action would have been taken immediately,” Slusser said. “I was definitely very angry, and I was happy at first to know that it was already known to the coaching staff and compliance and everyone, but I don't know if it changed my mind. Hmm. I was just angry and didn't think someone would do something like this.
“I feel like there's a lot of content in that whole conversation that the school would want to address, like threatening to hurt your teammates.”
The Rams won Friday's game against San Diego State in four sets, setting up a date with San Jose State on Saturday for the conference championship.
