“To those who have called, Steve was transported to Ochsner last night during the storm and is currently in stable condition. Thank you to the @NOLAFireDept paramedics and @NewOrleansEMS who responded in dangerous conditions, and the staff at @OchsnerHealth who provided immediate care,” the post read. “We will update you all with more information as it becomes available. Thank you Gleason Crew.”
Gleason's publicist, Claire Durrett, told ESPN that the player was suffering from a fever and very low blood pressure and that doctors had recommended he be taken to a hospital, but Francine was heading toward the state as a Category 2 hurricane.
“They quickly stabilized him and transported him to Ochsner Hospital,” Durrett told the outlet. “He's there and is in stable condition. He continues to receive treatment and we hope Steve will do his best, as he always does, and get him home as soon as possible.”
