More than 1.4 million residents are currently voting early in one of the most important battleground states for the 2024 election.
Georgia has been setting turnout records since early voting began on Tuesday.
As of Monday morning, the Georgia elections website shows 1,347,843 votes have been cast in person and just over 80,000 absentee ballots have been returned and accepted.

“Today, Sunday voting is underway in several counties, and once again voters have set new records,” Gabriel Sterling, chief operating officer of the Georgia Secretary of State's Office, wrote in X yesterday.
“As of 2:30 today, more than 25,000 Georgians have voted. The previous record on Sunday was 24,000 in 2022. Keep up the good work, county and voters. ”
The total number of votes cast Sunday ended up being just over 42,400, nearly double the number of votes cast in 2022.
On the first day of early voting alone, Georgians cast more than 313,000 in-person votes. Stirling said this was 123% higher than the previous opening day record.

Total voter turnout so far has accounted for nearly 20% of Georgia's eligible voting population. White voters make up the largest share of that total so far, followed by black voters. Even before Election Day, Georgia women slightly outnumbered men, 55.4% to 45.4%.
Georgia has become a key focus in the high-stakes race for the White House between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Both have poured significant time and resources into the state, which President Biden won by less than 1% in 2020.

Harris spent her 60th birthday in Atlanta on Sunday, visiting two churches with celebrity guest Stevie Wonder.

Meanwhile, President Trump plans to personally attend a religious event in rural Georgia this week, according to WRBL.
The former president will visit Pike County on Wednesday to support Congressional candidate Brian Jack, who served in the first Trump administration.
