Georgia needed more than 60 minutes and seven overtime innings to avoid an upset.
In the end, Georgia State defeated in-state rival Georgia Tech 44-42 in eight overtimes.
This is the second-most overtimes in FBS history, just one behind LSU and Penn State in 2021.

Georgia trailed 17-0 at halftime and fell behind by two touchdowns with just over five minutes left in regulation time. But after scoring a touchdown, he recovered a fumble and scored another touchdown, forcing overtime.
Nothing worked for either team as passes fell incomplete and runs were stopped. Under the new overtime rules, teams will alternate two-point attempts after the third overtime.
But in the eighth overtime, after finally stopping the Yellow Jackets, Nate Frazier ran into the end zone, instantly ending a classic game.

Georgia improved to 10-2 on the season. Having already qualified for the SEC title game last week, this win all but guarantees a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. Even if they lose that contest, it probably won't be enough to defeat the Bulldogs.
It was also the 31st straight home win for Georgia, which hadn't lost three games in a season since the 2018 season, but its third loss of the year came in the Sugar Bowl. They haven't lost three games before a bowl game since 2016.
Head coaches Kirby Smart and Brent Key shared a long hug after the game.
