Days after New York Giants manager Brian Daboll glared at a reporter when asked if he was “concerned” about his job security, a new report suggests there may be some truth to the question.
The Giants' 2024 season got off to a tough start with a loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, as the team fell to 0-2 for the ninth time since 2013.

“So like I always say, what actually happened 10 years ago or last year is totally irrelevant to this season,” Daboll said Monday. “I think we've made improvements in a lot of areas, and we just need to continue to improve on the things that aren't working right now and stay focused on the game against the Cleveland Browns.”

But the road ahead looks difficult for the Giants, with ESPN reporter Jordan Lannan reporting Thursday that trouble is brewing inside the locker room.
“I've spoken to a number of people over the last few days, a handful, not all of them, but some of them have said things are starting to get volatile,” he said on the latest episode of “Breaking Big Blue.”
“Credibility with Brian Daboll is at stake. Players are saying their confidence in him is waning.”

“I haven't seen this much volatility in the locker room since 2017 when things fell apart over Ben McAdoo,” he added.
Thursday's report comes after wide receiver Jalin Hyatt reportedly requested a trade this summer. ESPN reported that Hyatt said at a practice just before the start of the season that if the Giants don't use the second-year wide receiver, they should trade him, according to a source.
Hyatt denied the report, adding that he had “great respect” for Daboll.

“I never said that. I don't know where that story came from, but it's just not true,” Hyatt said. “I'm happy to be here. I have a lot of respect for Joe, the Dubs, them trading up for me and acquiring me, so whatever rumors there are, it's just not true.”
