The New York Giants are 3-14 this season, and many were surprised by owner John Mara's decision to keep general manager Joe Schon and head coach Brian Daboll in place for a fourth season.
ESPN reports that several Giants players are also apparently “surprised” that the team kept Daboll.
While multiple players were “surprised” by Daboll's release, others said they were okay with Daboll being a player-friendly coach.

According to the report, the players said the Giants' head coach welcomes feedback and has a schedule that “doesn't wear out the players very much.”
The report also said that while players like Daboll as a person, they see signs that his program is not “destined for success.”
Daboll's tenure couldn't have gotten off to a better start, going 9-7-1 in his first season, winning a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings, and being named Coach of the Year. It was.
Everything has gone downhill since then.
The Giants regressed to 6-11 in 2023, and people thought the 2024 season would be a make-or-break season for the coach and general manager.

Instead of improving, they went even further in the opposite direction, finishing what was supposed to be a monumental 100th season with 3 wins and 14 losses.
It was a season where fans hung up banners with messages to ownership and starting quarterback Daniel Jones was cut days after he was benched.
Nevertheless, Shane and Daboll will get another chance to right the ship.
According to the report, one of the major problems this season was a lack of communication between coaches and players.
Some players said, “Without adequate explanation, issues such as role changes and reduced snaps were misunderstood and left to the wind.''

The biggest problem facing Shane and Daboll heading into next season is solving the quarterback position.
The team has the third pick in the NFL Draft behind the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, and may not have a chance to draft this year's top two quarterbacks, Shedule Sanders and Cam Ward.
Regardless of who plays quarterback for the Giants next season, both Daboll and Shane will arrive in the hot seat with tremendous pressure to win from a hungry fan base and restless ownership. It's going to be a season.
