Emmanuel Clase is the best closer in baseball, but he looked very different Thursday night.
The Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher allowed only two home runs during the entire regular season and had a very low ERA of 0.61.
However, in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, he allowed two home runs in five pitches.
Clase entered the game with a four-out save, but allowed a game-tying solo home run and a game-winning solo home run to Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

Thankfully for Clase, the Guardians quickly turned around after losing the lead and won in miraculous fashion, avoiding a 3-0 holeout.
And you better believe Clase isn't going to let one rough night define him.
After the game, Clase shared his praise on Instagram. He filmed a video of his All-Star ring, last year's American League Reliever of the Year award, and 2023 All-MLB plaque.
“Hablamos manana. Good night,” Clase wrote in the video, the Spanish part of which translates to “Let's talk tomorrow.”

Therefore, it goes without saying that Classe's confidence has not wavered in the slightest. But it's clear he hasn't been the same since the playoffs started.
In the regular season, he allowed just five earned runs. They have already conceded six goals this postseason.
The Guardians were on the brink of a final blow, but Johnkensie Noel hit a two-run home run to settle the score with Yankees closer Luke Weaver. In the 10th inning, David Frye hit a two-run homer off Clay Holmes. Holmes had a postseason ERA of 0.00 entering that night.
