A portion of the donations to fundraising committees associated with the Harris Waltz movement will be used for recount efforts.
Those who wish to donate on ActBlue, a nonprofit fundraising platform, will see fine print warning them that the campaign may initiate a recount effort.
The push to strengthen the “recount account” comes as the Harris campaign is reportedly $20 million in debt. The donation will be made to the Harris Victory Fund, which is part of a joint fundraising committee chartered by the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the state Democratic Party.
“The first $41,300/$15,000 from individual/multiple candidate committees (“PACs”) will be allocated to the DNC. “The next $3,300/$5,000 from individuals/PACs will be allocated to Harris for the Presidential Recount Account,” the fundraising page states.

There was no indication that Harris was seeking a recount of her own after her decisive victory over President-elect Trump, who won all battleground states and the popular vote.
Harris-Waltz's campaign reportedly spent $1 billion during her unsuccessful campaign.
“With several important Senate and House elections still too close to call, we have organizers and volunteers on the ground in these states to keep an eye on the campaign trail,” the Harris campaign's website states. ”
“If you can, please donate to the Harris Fight Fund today to ensure we have the resources to elect Democrats ready to hold the Trump administration accountable,” the newspaper said.

Over the weekend, Mr. Trump appealed to people for help and donations to help pay off Ms. Harris' campaign contributions.
“I am extremely surprised that the Democratic Party, which fought so hard and bravely in the 2020 presidential election and raised record amounts of money, has so little money left over,” Trump wrote on social media. Media platform Truth Social.
“Right now they are being squeezed by vendors and others. Whatever we can do to help them in this difficult time, we as a party and for the unity that is sorely needed, we urge you to do so. I highly recommend it,” he added. “Our biggest asset in this campaign is 'earned media,' which doesn't cost that much, so we have a lot of money left over. Let's Make America Great Again!”
