Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has become the latest Democrat to defend Kamala Harris' evolving positions on immigration, insisting it's “natural” for the vice president to change her mind over time.
“It makes sense to change policy to fit the moment,” Pritzker said on CNN's “State of the Union” on Sunday.
The comments came as Harris faces accusations that she has “upended” former Republican policy positions, including on illegal immigration and the border.

Rep. Erin Houchin (R-Ind.) said after Harris announced her support for a bipartisan border bill that includes funding for the U.S.-Mexico border, “Kamala Harris is second-rate on policy issues.'' “It keeps coming back and forth, and the most recent one is the border wall.” wall. “Unfortunately, the receipts remain. Other Republicans, including Trump's senior adviser Jason Miller, have insisted that Harris has not changed her stance on the wall and that she intends to halt construction if elected.
“Mr. Harris is against walls, always has been against walls, and as vice president she stopped building the wall,” Miller told Fox News last month.

Harris' allies nevertheless continued to defend the vice president's evolving views.
Pete Buttigieg, the Biden administration's secretary of transportation, was asked about Harris' change in policy during an appearance on NBC's “Meet the Meat,” and said, “I don't know what's going on in the world around me. “And we will formulate policy based on what can be accomplished in Washington.” Press” earlier this month. “Every election is about the future, not the past.”
