The Chiefs got a little help on their final drive of the game, when the Bengals pushed the Chiefs to 4th down and 16 yards when Patrick Mahomes scrambled and found Ruthie Rice, who made the catch in little space to extend the drive, but Bengals defensive back Diane Anthony ran into Rice early and was called for a pass interference penalty.
This gave Kansas City an extra down and put Butker in range for a field goal.
Mahomes didn't have his best game, completing 18 of 25 passes for 151 yards, two touchdown passes and two interceptions, one of which was a turnover on an incredible play by Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt.

On the next drive, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow fumbled the ball and Chamari Conner picked it up for a touchdown that gave the Chiefs a 23-22 lead.
Burrow saved the day and led the Bengals on an eight-play, 33-yard drive that ended with an Evan McPherson field goal. The drive might have ended differently had Ja'Marr Chase not received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for interacting with the officials.
Burrow completed 23 of 36 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Mike Gesicki had seven catches for 91 yards and Chase had four catches for 35 yards.
