The Miami Heat unveiled a new statue of Hall of Famer and franchise great Dwyane Wade in front of Caseya Center on Sunday.
However, while it is truly an honor to have a statue outside the arena, this statue went viral for the wrong reasons.
When the curtain was finally pulled on the statue's unveiling, Wade was outside the arena watching, and the statue didn't look much like No. 3.

The statue was created to immortalize one of the most iconic moments of Wade's Heat career, when he yelled, “This is my home!” After hitting the game-winning shot in double overtime against the Chicago Bulls in March 2009, Wade famously jumped on the scorer's podium and said the final line to the crowd.

However, criticism of the statue began to flow on social media.
One X user wrote, “Why can't we get statues of people…that look like the people they're supposed to represent? Nobody sees Dwyane Wade here.” Posted.
Another user posted: “This is a great act but a terrible execution. Dwayne deserves a better statue.”
Some likened the statue to that of Cristiano Ronaldo, but the brutality of his bronze bust at the airport in his native Portugal's Madeira island has once again come to the fore.

Fox Sports panelist Rachel Nichols captured the moment Wade accepted the statue, saying, “This is an out-of-body experience, folks.” I understand what will remain.
While Wade and his family seem excited and happy with the statue, some think the Heat should remake it to more closely resemble the franchise.
Wade spent all but one of his 16 years in the NBA with the Heat, helping them win three NBA Finals. A 13-time All-Star and eight-time All-NBA selection, he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
